The Footbridge at Khao Chamao National Park

Khao Chamao–Khao Wong National Park, Rayong, Thailand

A weathered steel footbridge runs dead-straight over a forest stream at Khao Chamao–Khao Wong National Park in Rayong. The frame pulls you down its length into the green.

The Story Behind

I came across this footbridge on a walk through Khao Chamao–Khao Wong National Park, in Rayong. The park is thick evergreen forest with streams running through it, and the trail crosses the water on these old steel truss bridges.

I lined up dead-centre and let the bridge do the work — the rows of girders pull your eye straight to the far end, with the forest pressing in green on both sides and the stream just visible through the gaps below. The metal has gone that rusty red-brown that sits well against all the green.

Shot on the X-T30. It's the kind of frame that only works head-on; a step either way and the symmetry falls apart.
