Sunset over Jomtien Beach, Pattaya

We'd come down to Jomtien for the evening, the family settling in for snacks along the beach while the sun went down over the Gulf of Thailand. I had my plate in one hand and the phone in the other — the light over the water was doing something I didn't want to miss.

It's a working stretch of beachfront — pickups and scooters parked nose-in along the road, people drifting over from the night market to lean on the railing and watch. Nobody was in a hurry. The promenade lamps had flicked on while there was still colour in the sky, and the row of lit posts gave the scene a kind of rhythm leading toward the horizon.

I shot it on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, waiting for the sun to drop until the water went to a flat silver and the sky behind it turned from orange to deep blue. Then I went back to the snacks and the family and let the evening carry on.
